I just bought a bunch of new Michigan Stingers that don't have split rings on the nose. Should I put rings on them or run them the way they are? Your opinions are greatfully appreicated.

....... check DW site for snap/swivels work great for me ..... or a small coast lock snap..... some type that allows the spoon to move freely and light would work fine.....

On spoons it's important to run a good ball bearing swivel.  Spoons can twist up the line pretty good.

I run black coastlock BB swivels on spoons. I think I am running too big of a swivel on them though, cant remember the size.

I'd try running one of them at the side of the boat with and without and observe the action (or lack thereof). Sometimes there is a good reason why they don't have the split ring or even certain sized ones are used.

It all depends on the shape of the snap you're using.  If the snap is well rounded then you don't need a ring. Some tackle mfg'r assume you'll use this type of snap.   If you have a small snap or one with a "crook" in it then yes, put a ring on it.  Make sure it's a good quality ring though.
