Hi guys , on sunday went fishing on lake ontario (first time ever ) launched in st. Catharines and had not much luck , many boats was trolling in 45fow so i tryed to , worked from 20 to 120fow , no luck - tryed downrigger , planners , flat line - is there something im doing wrong ?

What concerns me is i never marked a fish on my sonar in those depths.

So i started to explore all the way till 170 fow , there i got some marks near the buttom - so i took out my jigging rod and few minutes later end up with a lake trout.

But my plans was to target a steelhead :))

Any advice?

Thanks

Use long leads from the DR to lure. 100' would not be too long. Experiment with boat speed.

Very typical to not mark fish in shallow water. Water temp very critical, if you have a way to measure it.
