On the way out of the house this morning I heard a noise coming from my Walleye boat.

2003 Tracker/90 hp Merc.

The motor was all the way up, and tried using the switch on the motor to lower it, but would not respond.

Power trim unit was HOT!

Disconnected the battery as I had to get to my business.

Any suggestions?

Sounds like a short someplace maybe the trim switch on the motor or at the control? and it may have burned itself up at the motor? I had to replace mine last season when it crapped out....

Came home, hooked up the battery and lowered the outboard, as if nothing had happened.

Looked the switch over by eye, and saw nothing odd.

I'll poke around with a tester tommorrow.

Had that happen on my 90 Mercury...on 2 different occasions.  I changed the switch on the motor the first time.  And the bow switch the second time.  Over time...i think they get shorts if they get wet a lot.
