Finally a nice northern for me this year

Spent lots of time last year and this trying to get into decent fish, but always have trouble getting into fish over 35". Picked this up yesterday, 40.25", just shy of 13lbs. Figured would be a 15lber in the fall? Hit a bomber long A saltwater magnum in wonderbread. Sick of leaning over side of boat to unhook fish, even with my new beckman finsaver, laying out plans now for a specialized pike/tiger livewell, for unhooking and safe reviving if need be. Will post pics when finished.

Excellent large pike! Looks large enough to pack on several more pounds if heavily fed. I'm lookin' at that large head. Care to tell what body of H2O it came from?

I was shocked how loose her belly skin was still from spawning, she definitely had a lot of eggs in her.

Perhaps that nice fish was on a diet.....    Pike spawn very early, like just before ice out...right?
