There is a post circulating on facebook of a  260# catfish caught on Keuka Lake, near the bluff. The post states it was turned over to the DEC and it had a deer carcass in it. Anyone hear of this? The picture has the landscape cut off, but it don't look like Keuka to me. With all the phony stuff that circulates on facebook, I believe this might be a hoax. I figured someone here would know if it was true or not.

Thanks,

Jason

Yeah Mike, I'm guessing it is as well. The original post started in NC and was shared by my girlfriends aunt who is also in NC, so I was pretty sure it was a hoax as well. Also, It would be all over LOU and probably the news as well.

Those big cat pics that always circulate all over the net are the European Wels catfish, and they are not even on this continent!  Big blues will push the 150 pound mark, but there is not one on the books over 200 pounds, that I am aware of.

Yeah, my daughter who lives in Houston, Texas sent the pic/email that is all over the internet to me asking if this really happened on Keuka lake - well , WHEN PIGS FLY!!!!

Actually, it is a hoax.

The catfish was only 240 pounds, and it did not have a deer in it's stomach.

It  had a german shepard and a 53 pound bluegill in it...

I know it's the truth because my second cousin's next door neighbor's gynecologist was present when they winched it up on the boat ramp at Keuka State Park.
