Will be heading up to the Islands to fish on friday-sunday morning. I'm really interested in going for walleye. Having not fished this area before I was hoping to get some good advice on how and where to fish..will be staying in the lake of the Isles. Thanks in advance !!

Personally have never heard of catching them in LOTI. Most of the ones I catch are where there is good current in the main river.. LOTI is better to target panfish, largemouths and pike.

The American side straits up around the bridge into Canada to the Round Island lighthouse is a very good area to target walleye.

Trolling or jigging? I will be in a-bay all weekend and was gonna leave the boat at camp on pillar Point, but did not realize you could still get walleyes this time of year. I usually switch to open lake fishing after the spring.

I think you'll have difficulty maintaining contact with bottom trolling into current with 1-2 ouncers but  they will work drifting with the current with worm harness but gobbies may drive you nuts.. Deep diving cranks will work into the current either off long lines or riggers. I catch many on stick baits but you need extremely heavy bottom bouncers or riggers to fish them effectively.
