Grab the rod like this: Left hand grabs right side of rod and right hand grabs the left hand side on either side of the ferrule , like an X. then try to twist and pull apart gently. Has worked for me on some tough rods.

spray some reel magic or wd-40 in the seam let it sit a couple of minutes then it should pull apart no problem. I learned a trick from an old timer pier fishing he told me to rub where your nose meets your forehead then rub that finger on the rod insert and they will never stick together 20+ years later still doing that and my rods don't stick together!!

I got one apart once with a hair dryer, heat up the sleeve end and try to keep it away from the other side, you only want the outside expanding.  Also don't do it too long for the same reason.

Put a ziplock bag full of ice around  the ferrule hold it on there a few minutes and then try.

Grab the rod on either side of the fuerell place behind your kness the move your legs out your legs are much stronger than your arms and you get a nice straight pull

My dad taught me the same nose rub technique over 50 years ago!

Old timer taught me this on the deleware in a parking lot as I was getting read... still use it to this day

I had a custom made 10' flyrod not come apart  for 2 years. I drive a van so it was no prob transporting it. Tried one day & it came apart.  Next time Try 2 guys w/ a hand each on both section . DO NOT  TWIST. You will weaken & fracture the fibers.

Nose trick is the man.
