Found an old set of Riviera manual riggers cheap. They have pretty long booms on them. Are they any good and how much weight will they handle? Debating on trying these or keep saving and buying a set of Cannon's.

They were state of the art downriggers back in the seventies and eighties.  I don't think anyone was running over 10 lb balls back then.  I think Offshore bought them in the late eighties and tried to revive the brand.

I used to use the Riviera short booms with 8 and 10 lb weights. I upgraded to "new" cannon dual crank 6 riggers. Lol. I honestly love them, but I used to like the rivieras. Never having owned or used electrics, I just may not know any better.

Thanks guys for the input. I talked to the guy today and one doesn't have a line counter. For what he is asking I think I will save and buy a set of cannon hand cranks. Gotta save a little more. This fishing stuff is getting expensive!!!!!!!
