Maybe its me, but I find that absolutey wasteful. They can check coolers a fisherman come off the water and gain same information. As least the fisherman will utilize their catch.

If you count the # of trout and salmon in the cooler, then, consider the perch, 2 pike and a lot of suckers, there were 6 people on the boat. They were still not over their limit for a days legal catch.... And they did not go to waste. They provided valuable research data, and fed people who were very happy to take them.

Justtracy - yeah we do just about every lake in the state.. Just marked Otisco a couple years ago. I have a couple guidelines to adhere to but I'd be happy to try and help you out with anything to make it better for you guys out there.

I'll take the perch next time!  I prefer them filletted and vacuum sealed but I am not picky.  :)

I am all for the DEC carrying out research studies. I am happy that supposedly all fish caught were utilized and they didn't catch more than a days limit. Gill nets don't stop catching when a days limit is reached.

Wow Jason,, those Oakie-Doakies  sure look nice but not the green & Yellow orange & yellow I remember from the day.

We still make all the colors we did before. Those were just paint practice for me and possibly colors we will add in the future.
