Storing trolling motor for winter?

Should I take my Minn Kota off the boat for the winter and store indoors or is it fine to leave outside and attached to the boat. It has autopilot if that matters. Thanks

The super cold weather doesn't help ANY electronic instrument and although it may not do any apparent damage who knows if it may shorten its life.... if it were me I'd store it out of the elements. Both my Minn Kotas reside in the garage for the winter (and they don't have autopilot)

My Minn Kota and all electronics come off the boat and go into the basement for the winter. Boat is in an unheated garage. Better safe than sorry.
