On season two its been great .  The Honda motor is great don't let the plastic fool you its a tough auger. Cold start prime the bulb choke it if it doesn't go take the choke off it will fire let it warm up that is critical then it has lots of steam. Also there is a break in period it just gets better the more I use it.

Look into the propane models as well ... You can cut alot of holes on one small propane cylinder ...

chowder try this one on the Honda. I made up a adapter for a Nils drill on my Honda 35 . Scary fast used it on the big 36 plus inch ice last season.

Cant beat an electric.  We use them all the time in the harbor in Milwaukee - drills faster and a ton less noise.  I've been using a buddies icegator auger for the last few years.  Its important here because the water is crystal clear in the winter (can count the pebbles on the bottom in 18ft of water) and brown trout are easily spooked.

So gas/propane vs electric is really determined by what you are fishing for.  If you need to hole hope and drill 80 holes chasing after gills, then go with gas.  If you need a stealth approach and drill less than 40 holes, then electric is the way to go.

Wound up getting the Eskimo propane unit on sale at Fleet Farm for $360. Thanks all!
