Would any of you fishing veterans be willing to share a few tips on targeting and icing walleye? Tactics, common fish holding structure, tackle, techniques, etc...

I am still fairly new to targeting the mighty walleye. Thought this might be a good general exchange and particularly helpful to those new to ice fishing for walleye. Any wisdom shared is deeply appreciated. Thank you and Happy Holidays!

All great advice for you there. The lakes I fish are relatively featureless (Honeoye, silver, black lake, etc.) I pick up a few here and there jigging but I rely on my tipups more. Weed edges and any kind of shoal/ drop off. Bait your tipup with a 6-8" sucker and set 2-3' off bottom and wait for that early morning or late evening bite. Sometimes it's pike, pickerel, or bass but others, it's a nice fat walleye. Good luck
