I have a 24ft rampage with a single screw that I'm transferring my Raymarine Sport Pilot X 5R to. My question is do I need to get a rudder assist for it so it will hold true or should I be ok? With out the AP it holds course pretty well already so I don't know if I will need the assist or not???

Thanks Matt

I think rudder assist is mainly used for sail boats. If I'm not mistaken make sure your rudder limits are correct and you should be fine.

Rudder assist or rudder feedback? Rudder feedback does just what it sounds like - it informs the AP of the rudder position. This helps keep the AP from over compensating. It also prevents the system from putting force on the rudder if it is at a hard stop in either direction.Lastly, it will let you know the rudder position, which is handy for docking.

Yea I guess it is feedback. Is this something that I am going to need for my system to work properly or can it be used without it with a single screw?
