I'm going to stay on Sodus Bay in early June. I have a 20' Grady with down riggers and planers. I have fished that area many times before, however; not for at least 15 years. Is this a good time still for Browns? What can I expect to catch trolling that time of year. Thanks, Jay

Browns and Lakers will be available to you.  Kings and offshore steelhead will be hit or miss.

We crushed the steelhead out of Sodus in the beginning of June 2014. 20-30 fish days. Spoons on short cores and split shot rigs.

I had a whole weekend from friday night to sunday last june where we boated at least 10 springers a trip. It ws an absolute riot but a few days later they were gone which was the tale of the lake last year. Hopefully more consistancy for 2015

Usually in June the steelhead fishing is pretty good, 100-400 fow depending on the temp break. Can sometimes catch a king down deeper, but that is very hit or miss.

Also, browns are usually available in the 20-60 fow range off the points

The responses are awesome! Should I still use planing boards while trolling in the deeper water or just the riggers?

Boards and riggers.... it is usually a time to try everything you have because it is before the fleas so you can use light lines as well although I'm not sure from the comment just what type of boards you have but light leaders (e.g.10 lb test). It is also a good time for lead cores and short copper rigs if you have them and perhaps even a top line in the shallower situations with a large split shot or two a few feet above the lure (helps keep off grass and gets some depth to the lure.

My planers are the old school type (homemade 3 board style). I have a mast on the front and use releases.
