Minn Kota repair?

I have a Minn Kota - Edge -40lb thrust. The bottom half section of the plastic head is cracked. Looks like I  could buy a new plastic bottom half on line. Looks like if I took out a few long screws I could get at the bottom section and replace it. My question is, if I try doing this (very carefully) will I end up messing up the parts inside the the plastic cover and then will not be able to get them back together properly.  In other words is this a "do-it -yourself" type project?

I have a  Endura that I had some trouble last year  and did not work. I pulled those 2 long screws out & it comes apart pretty easily . It had water in the case & I cleaned it out good & resealed it. Was a bit of a pain  but it works as good as new.

 

 As I remember those long screws were in pretty tightly , so be carefull.

There is brushes and an armature in there but it is pretty easy.The spring don't come popping out or anything crazy.
