Fishtails Posted April 27, 2008 Posted April 27, 2008 Which setup do you run for spring kings? Do you still use your wire rods, or do you use mono for dipsies untill the fish start to move deeper?
Richard Posted April 27, 2008 Posted April 27, 2008 I have used mono in the past before I picked up some wire rigs a few years ago. Now the wire rigs out perform everything else for the bigger fish and are also more or equally as consistant as any other presentation. Tight lines. Richard
Fishtails Posted April 27, 2008 Author Posted April 27, 2008 I use wire also. I know some use mono in the early spring when the kings are higher to get the divers further from the boat. I'm curious how many guys use this method, or do you stick with wire all season ?? BTW.....I spelled dipsy wrong in the poll  can you edit a poll....or am I missing something?
traveling man Posted April 27, 2008 Posted April 27, 2008 Rod, I have 2 wires and 2 power pro dipsey rods. I mostly run wire but there are days that the super line is more productive than wire.
Play Penn Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 Rod, I've had success with wire for spring Kings especially out west. Sometimes those big guys are hanging deep below smaller kings and coho that are higher in the water. Having said that, I often still have a mono or fireline slide diver to hit those 20 to 50 ft depths or when I want to add stealth. If I could only use one, wire!
