I did in the past not bad but I have had less break offs with Seaguar. Here is a site that lists various manufacturers and their strengths.

Gamma but that's just my opinion after trying them all. Seaguar is good as well.

One line you WONT see on that list is Berkley Vanish---thank God! Worthless crap.

I use Seaguar too but I saw some cheap and thought it might be worth a try. I used Vanish once also and it was junk but I heard they they modified it.

I use P-line and Seaguar.

 

They call it vanish since that is what your lure will do when you use it. Had a ton of breakoffs just trying to tie it when I used it for steelhead fishing, when to P-line and no issues.

I am kind of a cheap sob and vanish is the only line I ever threw away brand new.  Absolutely worthless.  The abrasion resistance and knot strength are terrible and I can not imagine how you can modify something that is that bad in performance.  It is like they spent all their development dollars coming up with the cool and catchy marketing name and forgot to use so $$ for making a line that performs at the very least - decently.  Spend a few extra dollars on the front end and get P-line, a lil bit more, Seaguar and then you will ultimately save money on the back end although you probably won't even know it.  You will be too busy taking hero shots.

I tied a bunch of flies with some 50# blood run and I must say I m impressed at how much stiffer it was. Great fly leader

What lb test do you use for Muskies and Pike?

And just out of curiosity why not steel ?

Have had very good success with P-Line Shinsei; Vanish, Ha the only thing to vanish was fish and lures.

 I went on  a huge rant last spring......That P line stuff is the biggest pile of steaming crap Ive ever used....Had numerous break offs in one day....Changed back to Seaguar. That Vanish stuff is garbage also.....

Love p-line floro clear for my diver flasher leaders and tip up pike leaders. You can smell my "pile" anytime big fella!

When I have run out of Seguar I use Vicious fluoro and have never had a problem with it so I keep some as a spare backup on the boat (only have used 12 and 17 lb though)

I used viscous 12 lbs floro on my brown rods last year. Seaguar leader material for kings.
