Hi, I have the opportunuity to spend a week in Chippawa Bay on the St Lawrence starting August 8th. I was wondering if this was a good time for muskie fishing there as I have never been there before? Any tips on locations or tactics would be appreciated.

They are there Dugan just not in the numbers that they will be in the later fall months.  If its your first time then I'd consider hiring a charter the first day and then you will see everything you need to see for the rest of the week fishing.  The conditions change all the time up there so hiring a guide who is out there every day is a good place to start.

For August fishing, warm water, I'd look for spots that have quick access to deeper cooler water.  They will sneak in shallow to feed but they will be more comfortable out deep and cool.  Ledges, drop offs and humps will give you best shot.  If you fish weeds, you'll find plenty of Pike to keep you busy.

Good luck!
