Many of these rhetorical questions are hard to answer as there's no right or wrong answer to this stuff. I tie my own tourney harnesses with #2 trebles so a 3/0 hook is certainly bigger. That being said I'm sure it would work.

My guess is you are looking for 2/0 hooks per your post in the wanted section but saw the 3/0 hooks for sale and want to know if they would work. Why not?

Try it - I'm sure you can't go wrong.

I'm thinking "these salmon have a large mouth" so why not right? A 3/0 hook is not that much bigger

Absolutely! Think outside the box and who the f cares what everybody else thinks!

I can imagine the first time a Howie fly went in the water, people were probably thinking "who the heck is going to catch a salmon with that"......but it works!!

Keep us posted if it works.

As a side note, I'm going to experiment with much bigger Spin n glos this year for lake trout so we will see. I tied the harnesses with bigger trebles - 2/0.

Good luck,

Always try new stuff you aren't sure of. It's better to think outside the box than not at all. I use big trebles with my meat rigs and they work great. Don't see why your idea would not work.
