Steering knob

Please excuse me for my lack of correct terminology. I have a 221 islander and would like to acquire one of the knobs that attach to the steering wheel. What is this called and where can I pick one up? Thinking west marine? Who uses them and who do not care for them?

I believe they are called suicide knobs. You may find one at a truck stop.

In the fifties the used to be called neckers knob !!  So you could steer with your arm around your sweeties neck

well, I wont get anything unless it is stainless so no big deal. Anyone one here use one/wouldnt be without one?

I use one. Makes it much easier when docking. I found mine on Ebay from West Marine. It was half price.
