Need to top off my diver reels.  I need to join the two steel lines together, what knot do you guys use?  thanks

I have the line, 1000 ft AW and looks identical to my Blood Run.  I want  to know how to join them together to top off my reels.  thanks

If I couldn't use a micro-swivel to tie those two lines together (and the problem would be getting the swivel through the roller guides if you have a wireline rod), then I wouldn't bother taking the risk.

Welded split-ring made into a oval works for me on my wire/mono/slidediver rigs....got that info from a member on this site.

Use a single or double crimp

Crimp is what I am thinking. What size to use though on the 30lb wire?  I know of some folks who use the double haywire twist.  I like the sound of that but for the life me can't make it work.  thanks

Double half hitches will work fine and not present any problems going through guides. Simply tie two half hitches in one side and then do the same on the other side. Slowly pull together. Done!

I think I'll try the half hitches.  Maybe a piece of shrink tubing over them.  That should work.  thanks everybody

I always put the short line on the bottom of the spool and new 1000' on the outside with a double haywire. You don't have to worry about the knot through the guides. You just need an empty reel and a little more cranking.

Hey Mackeral.  How's the dry wall goin!  You is a working fool bro.  Can't wait til Hughes opens up.  You will have to show me the double haywire.  Do you use a tool of some sort to tie it up or your hands?  I can't get the little loops to come up when you finish the twist.  Waiting for the call from Arney's to get the boat down there.  thanks man

I was using 10.5' Water Eagles I think they we were called but they were so frustratingly limber and i would hook myself just about every time I would lift them out of the water, so switched to Berkley Black Beauty 2's at 9' without the twili tips on them.  Much more stable and controlable.  Gave the Water Eagles to a charter Capt. at the Marina.  thanks

PS  the Black Beauty 2's supposedly have cut proof eyes on the end of them

You could also pull the wire off. And put some backing line on underneath the wire to fill up the reel. Much cheaper and you won't be dealing with a knot in the business end.
