Size Boat Required Life Ring

Anyone know if or what size boat is required to carry a life ring. This is for a rec fisher, non charter.

I think it's anything over 20'

Yes but you also need to have a rope attached to it.

Is that a state requirement? I don't see where it says that for a Fed requirement?

I just took the About Boating Safety course and there was no requirement for rope to be attached. They suggested to have a rope attached but not required.

Must be a Pa. thing I guess , i've always had a rope on mine . Sorry for any confusion.

Having 50 ft of floating rope on your PFD Trowable Cushion is a good thing! If you toss the PFD to some one and miss you can pull it back and toss it again, especially in river current.Then with the rope pull them back to the boat.
