Check it near your compass and see if it pulls it before drilling holes. I had a Uniden radio pull my compass but not an older Standard Horizon. Definitely something to consider.

Out of the weather.  I know they are waterproof but sometimes there are defects not anticipated leading to failure down the road when you are most going to need it.

At least three feet from the antenna and use a swr  meter and shorten your cable to get max output .

Thanks for the help guys , the jokes/kidding was fun also...........

Looks like I'm going under the dash with a ram mount also installing a circuit breaker fuse block and running a heavy dual wire back to battery to hook it into + have some extra if needed.

Here where I was looking but it would be a cluster ,

Ed, if you had room, maybe someone else suggested as well, sorry if they did, but how about next to the yellow placard for boat limitations. At an angle facing upwards with the back (top) against the carpet almost under the dash where it's out of the weather or mostly. That's where I ended up with mine.

The power feed cables to your battery should be ten gauge wire to put out the full twenty five watt power.
