Copper setup

Been thinking about getting a copper setup. Was in our new Runnings store today checking out there fishing inventory. They have a fully rigged copper setup for $229 that includes the copper on a Okuma convector 57 class reel and matching Okuma copper/lead ore rod. Thoughts on price?

I think you might mean 50 series/class? Last I knew okuma only made 15's 20's 30's 45's and 55's. I know you can get them cheaper than that $229 buy a pre rigged okuma 55 from atommik and a okuma copper rod and you will have $200 tops.

I do not know how much backing etc.

I saw that rod also. It is an atommik loaded reel so it should have 900 feet if 50lb braid,300 feet of copper and a leader

Those combos are everywhere. 900' braid 300' copper. Not sure on leader. Good starter set up. Sucks reeling it in at first but soon as it starts firing you will want longer and longer lengths. That was my experience anyways. I paid $169 I believe for mine 2 years ago. End of the year sale normally $199 at Narbys in point breeze.

Also check your local guys out. It seems that they tend to be cheaper than many of the big box stores lately. And your supporting a local guy. Good luck with and be ready for a good fore arm burner.
