I hate to say it but most if not all fish can acclimate themselves to a 4* difference easily.  I mean I have fish that were half frozen "wake up"  when they hit the bottom of the sink and started to thaw out.

That amount of dead fish in small when compared to the amount of mooneye's that used to wash up on the shores of all lake Ontario bays prior to the stocking of Pacific salmon.  The bays used to have a ring of dead fish on them a foot deep & a number of yards wide, now there is a real stink!

The sockeye salmon carcasses are the food and nutrients their progeny thrive on.
