Curious what type of water your fishing over before you start using dipsy's? I have a trip planned early next month and was wondering if I should bring a couple dipsy set ups just in case.

Thanks,

Spike

It all depends.  I run slide divers for browns inside 20' right off the bat.  Once the kings show up, get them out.

What Brian said! Kings will smash a dipsy spoon in 15 to 20 ft. Set it 3 or more out 25 and keep the drag light as possible. Smaller dipsey works good or no ring. Yes bring them. If nothing else lakers will eat off of them.

I just primarily use the small dipseys with small to medium light spoons  in shallow in the Spring  and let them out till they briefly hit bottom and then let them come up a bit on their own and leave them there so they are running up a little off bottom and on a 3 setting so they are out aways from the boat. They gradually lift a bit and I adjust them as I go.

I took a king off a mag dipsy yesterday that was only out 44' over water depths in the 40' range.  Just figure 2:1 ratio with a mag dipsy and 3:1 with a standard.  If you tap bottom, bring it in, dust off the zebras and readjust your setback.

I run them short on one side and long on the other.  Let the fish tell you what kind of mood they are in and then switch it up.

Try a Chinook diver #1 (smallest) sent out to the side with a stickbait, can't miss!

With slide divers usually duplicate hot rigger depth and set back or start with 25' line out and keep pumping it back til it starts to take shots.
