planner boards

have been checking as i need as set of boards, should i buy as set if so from who, or should i build them and which wood is best ?

I have 2 sets of homemade boards, I love the first set I have but they seemed to be too tall so I built a shorter set to try out.  If I wanted something equivalent I would need otter boats, I just can't justify the money for those.

western red cedar or redwood if you can find it. Mine are 30 years old out of redwood. Also buy stainless threaded rod and hardware.

what do you think about hemlock, or is it to heavy.
