As a old timer running suttons then evil eyes then pirates then nks, I have always thought that a spoon needs a split ring and I have spent hours and fingernails putting them on stingers and moonshines.

I have always used berkley crosslock swivels which come to a blunt point and pinch a spoon.

The Moonshine manufacturer suggested that I use a DUOLOCK snap swivel with a rounded end run directly to the spoon.

Anyone have any insights on this???

Carl,

Duolocks are all I run, for that reason. I like the round bend, I believe it give the lures better action. As far as split rings. I run em the way the came out of the package. I gotta believe that the lure manufacturers have done the testing to determine how their lures run the best and package them that way, so who am I to argue.

I agree, run the doulocks. The best quality you can find. I also remove the split rings in front of the spoons. Just one less thing to brake, and if you have not had a fish brake a split ring you are over due.
