Inline Boards or Fixed Line Boards

I have never used Inline boards, and was wondering on some opinions.  I currently use my old home made boards and masts, and kind of get annoyed by them.  I guess will Inline boards be strong enough to support Lead or Copper? or should I just save the hassle, bite the bullet and upgrade my bulky old boards to Otter boats, Or Maybe just run one fixed board one side and an inline on the other side with lead or copper?  I'm Just not a fan of buying things to find out that they don't work the way I want them too.  I am currently set up to run 3 on each side, but if I am alone or with one other person it makes more sense to run inlines. I don't Like the way the copper or lead has on the effect of the Fixed line, especially if i am running say two top water out first ant then the lead with a spoon. Although it does seem to pull back and forth similar to the effect of pulling copper, But have yet to get something to take them.

Hi Martin, Good question. If you are flat lining in spring then the big boards are the way to go for that. That is the only time I run big boards!! As soon as I go to copper and core I run in lines. Just this past Saturday on what was the worst fishing day I've had in years on Seneca 3 for 7 we ran 12 inlines. We run core on one side of boat and copper on the other 4 to 6 boards per side. Run shorter core/copper on outside then work way in with longer sections. A church walleye board can handle up to 400 copper or 12 color core. The new tx 22 church boards run great and would be my first pick then a couple walleye boards for your longer sections. When you rig your copper/ core when you attach the power pro backing to your main line put in a section of 30 to 40 pound mono 4ft long between the backing and core or copper. This is where you hook your board cuts down on the backing getting tore up. Good luck Sean

The offshore inline boards with 3 hundred ft of copper work well with an optional 3 ounce snap weight.

Sean covered it real well and adding snap on weight is something I also do rather than extend the length of copper I use (200 and 300). I used the big boards for quite sometime and switched to outriggers years ago to keep the traffic away from my boat. Now I run TX 44's and Walleye Boards most of the time. They are fun to use and productive once you get the hang of them. One of the things I did with them was to replace the plastic pins with metal ones (Calumet Marine online) which alleviates the problem of the braid wearing them and cutting through them eventually. I always place the line in the furthest back position of the jaw on the releases and have the releases tightened down about as far as they go so they don't actually release and I bring the boards in and take them off manually on the way in fish or no fish rather than let the line release in them and have them slide down to the swivel on the back pin. Having the line very tight in the release also keeps the braid from wearing the release jaw itself too.

Thanks a lot guys.  I will def have to give them a shot.  I was just at runnings and saw them there, But I think I can get them a little cheaper online. I did get a second lead core there though and going to rig it up like YOU mentioned Sean.  But would 20LB floro work instead of 30LB mono between the backing and the Lead? I don't have any mono that size but i do have plenty of floro.  It will give me 2 leads and one copper. 

 

Are these inlines Def worth getting the little flags also? seems like a good idea seeing as the fish here can some times be small cookie cutters from what I hear.

So, just so I have this straight the boards attach to the line and just release? when you reel the fish in you take the board off and reel it in the rest of the way like normal?

These and slide divers are my next mission to get down and not tangled 😜
