Alewives invaded the shores of Webster park today, Seagulls and Herons had a field day, most were very large in the 6-8 in range, they were in large " bait balls" but then there were also hundreds whirling in circles madly on their own, do they also suffer from thiamine deficiency or something else happening?

Sounds like those that have spawned and are finishing their life cycle are the ones whirling on surface....that sure should draw in some predators..Specially browns and smallies..

Die off.  It happened last year too.  They are stressed from spawning and not in the greatest health after the long winter.

They are all over the shallows from eagle creek to the oak also
