Fish Hawk X4 went on the blink.....spent an hour, 4 phone calls to support, swapping out displays on buddies boats. Finally found the issue......a muskrat chewed the transducer wire at the waterline.

Well that totally sucks!! If you turn it into your Ins. Company you shouldn't have to pay the deductible because it's an act of nature, kinda like hitting a deer. LOL. But seriously it's not funny!

I've heard of  muskrats chewing wires on docked boats.  With a comprehensive claim which covers hitting an animal or animal damage you still will have to pay a deductible whether it be boat or car insurance.  It is often a smaller deductible than collision.

Unfortunately it's a rather common happening, there also rather fond of rubber bellows on I/O boats at times too. :(

Yes many different rodents like to chew the wires on boats and cars in barns too over the winter as well. I believe I read somewhere they are attracted to the urine that is used in the manufacture of the plastic coating on a lot of wire.
