This morning, all was fine with my Cannon Mag-10 downriggers, as it's been all week. For some reason suddenly, my one unit now will not send the ball down with the motor, the motor isn't engaging. I can free-spool it down and the rigger will lift the weight back up fine, it just won't lower it. If, while the weight is being retrieved and I hit the button down to stop the retrieve, the motor will stop. It seems the switch is working, but the "down" function isn't. Any tips on where I can look before taking it to a repair facility? Thanks!

remove switch assy and check for loose , broken or bad crimped wires if they have a crimped terminal. up down and stop are separate functions I believe.

I took the side cover off and everything looks fine. I did a continuity check of the switch, and I'm getting continuity at the top and bottom terminals when the switch is in the respective location. Am I looking at a circuit board now? They are the Mag10HS.

Had that happen to mine before. Once it was the switch. Next two times (each rigger) it was the board. Either way easy to change yourself.

Good luck.
