They sell braid for down riggers. It is thinner with less blowback so even lighter cannon balls are needed. Do not add it to your rigger wire spool as it will jam down at the edge of the spool. The electrical charge associated with steel wire is eliminated as well as the vibration noise that scares the fish.

Great as it has less blowback than thick stainless cable.  Don't use it if the lake you are fishing has water fleas.  Fleas clog up the braid and makes it useless.  You also cannot use a black box for positive ion charge with braid, which could be good or bad.

Try a Black's release if you feel you must use braid.  I like the co-poly line by Pline.  A little stretch but not nearly as much as mono.

it works, splice a 20-30 ft section of 20lb test mono or floro (or whatever you want)

that way the braid dosent go in the release and you get a little stretch
