Advice on buying a used radar

I want to look on eBay for a used Furuno radar but I'm not sure what the good models to look for are. Does anyone have any advice on a model number that would work well on Lake Ontario and would be good on a budget?

I got a 1623 on my boat that I bought new and works great. It is a compact model that I bought thru Hodges Marine for about 1300.00

Was it Lowrance that came out with a unit a few years back that a lot of bass anglers used for the bassmaster classic on the Mississippi River.  Apparently they were jerry-rigging them to their bassboats because they were expecting heavy morning fog.  Apparently Lowrance had a new radar system that you could be in front of without microwaving yourself.

Thanks for the advice Dan I'm see if I can find one those. I'm always coming back in in the dark so I really want to get a unit just to feel a little safer

Navico = Lowrance/Simrad does have their broadband that is supposed to put out less that 1/5 the radiation of a cell phone.  Simrad 3G is what I have on my boat for that reason.
