No copper

Can't invest in copper this season but have had some luck running my board line out 400ft with a 3oz snap weight on it. Other than testing it out to see when it hits bottom is there data that can give me an aprox depth? Snap weight chart sais it should be 30ft at 100 back. I have been told that this is not accurate. I gotta think that depending on trolling speed it could be hitting 50.

Nowhere near 50' at salmon trolling speeds, you might be touching 25'. After about 200 or so feet out your line will actually start to level out due to the drag

Just asking to make sure I understand you run planner boards out 400 feet to put a snap weight out?

Out 50 then 3 oz weight then another 350

The drag of the 350 feet of mono will completely negate the 3 oz weight.

check out Torpedo Divers.  They are like snap weights but according to their dive charts they get down very deep.  I have never used them myself but I am thinking about investing in them as I do not have copper either.

Their charts are only accurate with wire or braid though.........

Use a 12 oz torpedo diver.  They come with dive charts for mono and braid.
