I Fished the West side of the lake and marked fish from 50 ft to 10ft all over 100 fow or more. I had a big hit on the 35' rigger  and landed this 26"er. I released it along with a small lake trout. I landed both on the pink and green spoon. This was the largest I have ever caught on skaneateles; great day on the water!

I had a hard time trying to figure out between LL and Rainbow, how do you know by the spots on the tail? In person it was more silver than in the pic. Does the forked tail have anything to do with it?

The tail was probably an injury.  The spots on the tail are a giveaway for a rainbow, plus the faint light pink coloring and lack of large X spots which would point towards a LL.  Nice fish, congrats!

Plus the overall shape of the fish. Rainbows and steal head are shaped like rockets. The antlantics are usually confused and look more like browns.
