Lowrance HDS-7 Gens 3 Insight with structure scan looking for review?

Currently have a generation 1  Lowrance HDS5 with 2009 navionics hotmaps premium card.  Looking to add HDS-7 and network the two units.    Am I looking in the right direction for a good setup?

What are you lookig to "see" on the network?

 

You won't be able to share map between the 2 because the Gen1 doesn't work with sharing map.

 

Networking with a ethernet cable you will be able to share waypoints and sonar

To bad I can't share the map between the two units.  Is this the unit I should be looking at, or should I go another direction?

Have an HDS 5 and HDS 7 touch, both gen 2, networked on my boat. Use the 5 for sonar and 7 for GPS. The touch was well worth the extra money. Have the 83/200 hooked to 5 and structure scan hooked to 7. View either one on the 5.

The touch screen is kind of like an electric downrigger. Once you go to one you will never use a manual one again.

you might try chatting with Eddie Goode on Fishidy he is using the HDS Gen3, he's answered a couple of questions for me as I am looking at upgrading my current Humminbird setup.
