Picked up this 38 trolling for eyes. Fish took a perch tdd9 down 22 over 22...bait was ticking across the top of a hump just south of the little camp for sale on the west side.

Surface temp for me sunday up here was 72.6. The fish I marked highest in the water column was down 8' over 32'. But most are cruising deeper.

I always get a few tigers tight on structure, but I get em suspended and over weeds too. The biggest fish i get are always suspended over deep water. Otisco is loaded with tigers so you get em just about any way you try. The only hard part is if you want big fish....the best numbers come over the weeds with bucktails etc. You dont hear about many 40" plus fish caught that way though.

Thanks for the feedback. I was just curious if the fish were doing similar things from lake to lake.

I think what you said about most fish cruising deeper this time of year is spot on in most lakes in my experience. I like the hot weather and warm water for toothy critters as I think it positions the bigger fish in predictable places and depths. I got into nice pike one august in cranberry with this approach of finding some deeper water and fishing near bottom.

This weekend I'm going to run at least one bait right on bottom. I've been getting them suspended higher in the water column, but I have a feeling some bruisers are holding deeper.
