Woke up at 5am to quite a light show and decided to head back to bed assuming the entire morning would be a washout. Around 9 I rolled out of bed to flat calm conditions and blue bird skies... We left the dock shortly there after and set up heading north on the east shore around 100 FOW. By the time I finished setting the 2nd rigger, the first was already thumping with an average laker. After that it got hot! Temperature hot that is, and the fishing slowed way down! Wasn't until a nice bank of clouds rolled in that we had more action. As soon as the clouds rolled in, deep rigger is thumping and we see a fish about to break the surface directly behind the boat. Landed a solid 22 inch hen bow that was gushing blood and had to be boxed. As soon as that rod was reset then high rigger starts peeling drag and it was game on. Healthy fat hen brown that gave me an incredible fight on light tackle. Within minutes we were double with another average laker and 18 inch male bow. Everything was going great and then the clouds disappeared... We quit around 11:30am going 6 for 7 and pleased with ourselves for a late start and short trip.

Decided to try the evening bite that paid off a few weeks prior with some impressive rainbows and lakers. Start at 6:30 and found our spot was covered in weed pods and wreckless boaters. Moved to the west shore and doubled instantly. Ended losing both fish while trying to avoid traffic and answer questions from the audience we acquired while fighting fish... You heard that correct, had a boat with feet of our boards yelling "watcha got on over there". No big deal, and glad we didn't loose any gear because of it. Forced to quit around 9 after almost being run over again. We did manage to catch two lakers and loose another bow. Biggest laker was respectable at 28 inches and just over 8lbs. Glad to be on the water, and appreciate all the boats out there who did their best to give us some room. Hope everyone else had good fishing too. post-149977-14373515933_thumb.jpgpost-149977-14373515933_thumb.jpgpost-149977-14373516159333_thumb.jpg

Before the end of summer I really want to make the trip out there. We fished that one day a few years back when Ontario was a no go. Really liked the lake. I am about 3 hrs away. Gotta make the trip!

Fishing has been pretty good the last 2 years.  The lake is finally back in balance and produces good numbers of large fish.
