Salmon fishing Kingston

Hello fellow anglers,

I will be coming to Kingston on the 10th & 11th of August and I'm looking for a good area to try for some salmon any tips will be greatly appreciated. What bait work best there? Fishing with an old army buddy hoping we can get some fish.

About that time main duck island should have some fish but its a 20mile run on the water from Kingston.

 

Wellington area is producing salmon right now which is about an hour drive.
