Rod, Reel, Line questions

I've looked here for some answers to my questions before posting, I didnt see an answer so here goes.

 

My entire set up is walleye...

 

Diawa Wilderness rods and Diawa 27LCB line counters.  I do have 6 27B3 Sealines coming.  The 27LCB's will have braid for dispeys and the Sealines will have 14# mono for planer board trolling with snap weights etc.  I do also have two 9' Diawa trolling rods with 47LCB reels that I am looking at either single strand wire or lead core.

 

Are kings going to wreck my gear?  lol

 

I use cross locks snaps, barrel swivels, flourcarbon leaders on the end of the braid

Those reels will work (minimally) but they are pretty light on the line capacity especially for kings. The fleas will keep you busy with the braid so advisable to check lines very frequently. Any rods you use with the wire will require either a twili tip or roller tip. Not sure what kind/size boards but that seems very light for boards not to mention the fleas.

I use my Erie walleye gear for salmon.  I use Diawa LCs and Okuma Convectors.  15lb 100% Seaguar flouro main line.  30lb wire on my dipsy rods.  Ive landed huge kings with my gear with no problems.  I don't find I get any more sealice than guys running 30lb mono.

 

FWIW, I got two new rods 2 weeks ago.  Okuma CLassic Pro GLT down rigger rods and Okuma Convector reels. to use as stacker rods.  These new Convectors are giving me some issues with the drag adjustment that I am still trying to work out.  Im very close to returning them and getting Diawas.

 

I think you will be find with your gear.  Set your drags properly.  Check your baits often to clear the fleas.  And wait for the drag to scream
