Well I pulled a Forest Gump today and left my antenna up and it snapped about 6" from the top, it still works it just broke the fiberglass the stuff inside seems alright. I was wondering what are my options re fiberglass? cut it back if possible and put a new tip on it? Right now I taped it up so it does not pull off the whole way. Any suggestions would help.

THANKS!!

Well I searched the Internet and wound up on the hull truth site and the low down seems to be DONT CUT IT DOWN for a bunch of technical reasons mostly impedance and proper load when you transmit. I can try and repair it which I will do but I think I will replace the 8' 6db with the 4.5db 4' digital antenna from boe. Live and learn but one thing for sure I found out I am not the first and wont be last person to do this. LOL!

get some 5 minute epoxy, have someone hold the 2 ends together, apply epoxy, you can use a hair dryer to speed up drying time. Maybe not pretty but it works. good luck
