Bought a brand new eagle claw trolling rod last Saturday. Used it for the first time today. When I went to pickup I grabbed the rod to snap it of the release and guess what happened. Snap! In two. Anybody else ever do this???

I had all my 7.5 ft ones break. But guess what they are only rated to 15lb test and I had 30 on them and was honking on salmon. All my 8.5ft ones have always given me great service. Should I fault eagle claw. One of the 7.5 ft ones was brand new! Not saying this is your issue.

I have the SF400A which is 8'-6" long. Most are more than five years old and a few are as old as 15 years. I have only had one break while trying to pop it out of the release, and this was one of the older ones.. I use 20 pound mono on them which is at its high end of the rating. I love the rods. I use them as my spoon rods. due to the yellow color I know at a glance weather it is a spoon rod or a F/F rod. I run 30 pound mono for the F/F rods.

Hahaha, who cares, they are cheap and disposable for that reason.  If one breaks, you simply replace it for next to nothing.  That's what I like about my $20 Okuma downrigger rods.  If one breaks, I just replace it with another one. Easy and cheap.   :)
