What about Vista makes that more appealing?

I use Maptech programs on a laptop with my GPS, and it works really nice. Maptech also has a simulator in the same package which is fun to experiment with. I'm running, (don't laugh), Windows 2000.

Is there a way to connect my handheld to my laptop? I'll be in Wilson for the spring derby, was planning to bring the laptop to take advantage of the wireless at the marina, wouldn't mind giving it a try!

The NMEA 0483, 0841, ... (?whatever it is?), the old one, not the NMEA2000 is basically RS232. Works with my Lowrance iFinder H2O, and the Maptech program I mentioned earlier.

My desktop runs ME and they stopped updating the program forcing me to upgrade. It's fine for now but you need a lot of speed and space that my desktop doesn't have. If I added new hard drive stuff and speedier chips, It would cost a lot, so I'm going with a laptop that I can also use on the road and at the lake.

Check out dell.com and go to the outlet store. You can buy refurbished laptops at 1/2 the brice or better. Same 1 year warrantee and support and service. Sounds too good to be true.....I'm using my laptop right now. $650. 15.4 inch screen, blutooth enabled, dvd player, windows xp and dell has a site to upgrade to MS Vista for $10.50 Tons of other great features.

Check the site first thing in the AM and keep refreshing the site. You will see units for sale, grab it and put it in your cart to look at the details. Otherwise when you go to pick it it will be gone.

You wont be disappointed. :D
