We switched to Daiwa Heartland 7'6" ML action rods this spring, and they seem to be a great rod for BT fishing. Im not a huge fan of fishing for them, so I only do it during the month of April. We teamed it up with a Daiwa Accupeth Plus in the 27 size filled with 10lb test McCoy Mean Green. This set-up doubles for our Coho/Steelhead rods in May and June.

I have 8 of the same rods that Yankee Troller has. Mine are rigged with Diawa SG27lcs. They are super rods for browns and steelies. They were $29.99 last time I checked.

I also use daiwa 7.5 foot planer board rod. I have a 2 color core on an okuma size 20 reel to run off planer boards. works great. I think you would regret a 9 ft. rod for planer boards.
