Over the may year they stocked browns at harbours and creeks east of Toronto but they do not seem to return in the fall , at least not many .

my question is are they spawning in the lake like lake trout do, or do  they die off.  do other fisherman have the concern.

oh by the way I asked a person who with the stocking  he said. if they stocked in the creeks they would not leave the creek . I thought that was B,.,.,.s,.t .

browns do shoal spawn, but most head to the rivers...

spawning is tough for browns, as they are heavily targetted for their eggs (bow fisherman call their eggs "gold").

i'm glad many shoal spawn, and wish more followed suit.

I have seen and caught many browns in rivers during their fall spawn run as far back in my youth as I can remember , maybe 20 years.

I can't comment on recent years though because trolling in the lake is mostly what I do.

In the spring I have caught them trolling in 10 fow with stelth presentation, long lines etc. preferably where murky water meets clear water.

As far as your observation of poor spawning numbers...good question!
