The price of perch filets

Today at Port Colborne's Minor Fish shop perch filets are $11.25C per pound. Walleyes or pickerel are $10.25C per pound. We had perch and chips for lunch. Delicious.

That's cheap, Jimski.  With what I have in gear, fish are running me about $8,000/lb (but worth every penny).  You can't be perch & chips, that's for sure!

US stores have perch filets at $22US a pound. Same price as King Crab from Alaska. There seems to be a shortage of perch so if you find them, take care of them.

Perch fishing in L Erie has been either "you're ON" or you're coming home with about six.  The schools have been very small and move around a lot.  Last few years have been just the opposite.  40 boats or so anchored in one spot & everyone is getting what they want.

What I never liked or cared for was watching people throw fish back in because they're 7" or 8" long.  Coming up from 65', those fish are awfully bloated.
