Tons of jumpers out this morning and lots of what I believe were trout feeding on the surface. Ended up with a bass and a sheepshead. The salmon are there, just not willing to cooperate.

can you fish close to the bar area from shore. i am headed up from Pa next weekend and gonna try the niagara for the first time. plan on going down to the wirlpool hole but if there are fish at the bar area, id like to try that if it is shore fishable. thanks

Ive caught tons of sheepshead on the bar and up the river as far as art park. There might be some shore access from Fort Niagara State Park but Im no too sure. Art Park has decent access just beware of the water rising. it happens extremely fast. You can also check out the New York Power Authority fishing platform.

I think your fishing the green can 2 miles from shore and not what is your referred to as the bar 4 miles from shore where it drops to 200 and beyond, might have better luck for staging fish.

Does anyone fish the red can or drop off this time of year, if so what species would we fish for now!  Thanks.
