looking at getting bunk glides for my trailer

Has anyone had any experience with them? Could I make them out of starboard? If not what should I use?

We bought them for the trailer for our previous boat (aluminum Crestliner and Eagle trialer) and didn't like them. We took them back off the trailer right away.  Made it too slick and wore the paint off the bottom of the boat.

My Lund trailer (by Shorelander) has bunks. Made from treated wood covered with marine carpeting.

I thought the original poster was talking about the slick plastic strips you put on top of your carpeted bunks.

I just added them....the ones from bass pro that are slotted to help center the boat...I think they work well...but really not that slippery...

I am talking about the plastic slides, I don't have to worry about bottom paint, I just am getting tired of replacing carpet, bought a brand new boat this year, and already the carpet on the end is starting to rip. I just want to get something that I don't have to worry about replacing every 1-2 years.
