Need Bow / Broadhead Tuning Help

i just recently switched from Rage 2 blades to G5 Montec fixed blades. With the Rage my arrows flew pretty damn straight (really close to field tips). the G5s have caused my arrow to have a corkscrew (spiral) flight pattern. they are the same weight - 100g and im using the same arrow shafts. i have aligned the blades to match my fletchings. i am shooting a Hoyt 28.5" draw @ 65 lbs. Arrows are Carbon Express 400g @ 30" with Quick Spin fletchings. My groups arent terrible 2-3" @ 20 yds but not as good as the expandables. I would like to get away from expandables and use the fixed blades  Any help would be appreciated.

First mark your arrows and make sure your problem isn't just one broadhead. I had problems with G5s out of every three I'd have one that wouldn't fly like the rest even if I switched shaft's. I ended up shooting slick tricks 100 gr.

I tried montecs and found the same problem. I gave them away. Slick trick 100 grain now

I'm just shooting the standard 100 gr.

For what it's worth I have not had one G5 Striker 100gr fly untrue. Same brand , different head.  Good luck with whatever you decide! -Tank

Have u made sure ur arrows are squared up with a arrow squaring tool it makes a world of difference and the slick tricks are great

I agree with Tank the striker 100's fly true for me as well. the montec not so much

I start by aligning blades with vanes. Rubber o rings work if inserts wont allow alignment. From there you may need to adjust rest or sight but consistant flight is not far from there. I just got away from expandables as well.

I shoot strikers as well for the blade change option.

One more thing, i shoot muzzy 125 gr. outta xbow. They fly like a charm. Was 6 clicks different on scope than rage xbow broad heads. But better group.

Went out today and picked up a package of G5 Strikers cause thats just what the store had in stock. Flew straight as an arrow (pun intended). Was able to get a decent group at 30 yards with no bow tuning. Thanks for all the help and advice. Good luck everyone with the remainder of the season.

Adding a weighted insert will help, helical vanes as well. Both of my bows need almost perfect level nock height for fixed blade. The ol 1/16-1/8 nock high scattered my groups. Just touch the aft line on the bubble level brought my groups in. This was on Mathews Monster 6.7 and Switchback XT.

Have to also recommend the strikers. Shoot them out of my compound and crossbow. Pretty much cut on contact and the replacement blade option is a strong point. Rugged head that flies true.
